For people who think for a living. And feel too much in private

STAY HUMAN

You don't need more validation. You need someone who'll actually tell you what they see.

Let's Talk

STAY HUMAN THERAPY WASHINGTON DC

THE WORK

I work with high-achieving professionals, creatives, and entrepreneurs — people who are exceptional at reading rooms, managing optics, and performing competence. People who are, privately, exhausted by the gap between how they appear and how they actually feel.

What I offer isn't warmth as a substitute for honesty. It's both — which is rarer than it sounds.

I'll notice the patterns you've learned not to name. I'll say the thing that's been circling the room. I'll track what you do across relationships, years, and contexts — not just what brought you in this week.

If you've tried therapy before and walked away thinking that was fine, I guess — I want to know what was missing. Usually it's precision. The sense that someone is actually tracking you, not managing you.

This is deep work. Not because it's dramatic — because it goes below the story you've been telling yourself about yourself.

WHAT I WORK WITH

Anxiety that looks like productivity
The inbox is clear. The deliverables are done. The body knows something the calendar doesn't.

Relationships hitting the same wall
Different people. Same dynamic. You've noticed. You don't know why it keeps happening. That's exactly where we begin.

Identity in midlife
The version of success you built is real. So is the feeling that something essential got left out of it.

Trauma, transitions, the slow erosion
What happens when you spend years being very good at what's expected of you.

Who is this for

The High Achiever

The Creative or Founder

The Creative or Founder

Lawyers, executives, policy professionals. Fluent in strategy, optics, and performance. Less fluent in what's actually going on beneath the surface.and that therapy can be a powerful tool for achieving this balance.

Building something real, often at cost. The intensity that makes them good at their work is the same intensity that makes everything else complicated. as addiction, anger management, and grief and loss.

The Therapy Skeptic

The Quietly Overwhelmed

The Quietly Overwhelmed

You've tried it. It didn't stick. You spent the hour managing the therapist's comfort. Or you got insight without traction. This is a different kind of session.

The Quietly Overwhelmed

Everything looks fine from the outside. Inside there's a gap — between who you are and who you're performing — that keeps widening.

Most people who find their way to me have already done some version of therapy. They've left sessions feeling temporarily lighter and permanently unchanged.  That's not what I do.

How it Works

You reach outEmail or call. A few sentences about what's bringing you here is enough. There's no right way to start this. I'll respond within 48 hours.

We have a 15-minute consultationNot a sales pitch. A genuine check to see if this is the right fit — for you, and for me. I'll ask direct questions. You should too. If I'm not the right therapist for what you're carrying, I'll tell you that and point you somewhere better.

We go deeper, faster. The first few sessions move quickly. I'm not interested in six weeks of rapport-building before we say anything true. If something important is in the room, we go toward it.

The work compoundsWeekly sessions, 50 minutes. Most clients notice the shift not in sessions but between them — what they don't say, what they finally say, what stops making sense to tolerate.

What to Expect:

Safe Haven of Trust: Here, trust is sacred. It's a sanctuary where you can speak your truth without fear of condemnation or rejection. Your stories, your fears, your vulnerabilities – they're all held in the strictest confidence, creating a safe space for you to open up and heal.

Intake Session and Personalized Planning: Your journey begins with an intake session, where we'll navigate the depths of your life experiences. Together, we'll create a safe space for you to share your story, allowing me to gain a deeper understanding of your unique challenges and aspirations. Through compassionate listening and gentle exploration, we'll collaboratively design a personalized treatment plan that addresses the roots of your pain and sets the course for healing. Whether it's untangling the knots of past traumas, finding light in the darkness of depression, or easing the grip of anxiety or chronic stress, our planning process ensures that every step of your therapeutic journey is guided by empathy and purpose.

Take the First Step:

You're not alone on this journey. Reach out today and take the first step towards a life filled with healing, growth, and possibility. Your path to transformation begins here and ends with brighter horizons

Real Life Experiences

Michael's Battle with Depression: Michael* sought therapy during a dark period of his life, where he felt consumed by a deep sense of hopelessness and despair. Through our work together, Michael bravely confronted the roots of his depression, unpacking layers of self-doubt and negative thought patterns. With compassionate support and evidence-based techniques, Michael gradually found glimpses of light amidst the darkness. As he cultivated self-awareness and practiced self-care, Michael discovered a newfound sense of purpose and vitality, embracing life with renewed vigor and optimism.

Emma's Journey Through Trauma: Emma* came to therapy struggling to cope with the aftermath of a traumatic event from her past. Through our sessions, she bravely revisited her memories, gradually untangling the knots of pain and fear that had held her captive for years. Together, we explored techniques for grounding and self-compassion, empowering Emma to reclaim a sense of safety and agency in her life. As she progressed, Emma discovered a newfound resilience within herself, paving the way for healing and renewal.

Sophia's Struggle with Anxiety: Sophia* came to therapy overwhelmed by crippling anxiety that pervaded every aspect of her life. Together, we explored the underlying fears and triggers fueling her anxiety, uncovering deep-seated beliefs about worthiness and control. Through mindfulness practices and cognitive-behavioral techniques, Sophia learned to challenge her anxious thoughts and cultivate a sense of calm amidst the chaos. Over time, Sophia's anxiety began to loosen its grip, allowing her to navigate life's challenges with greater ease and resilience.

These examples illustrate the transformative power of individual therapy in navigating trauma, depression, and anxiety, empowering clients like Michael, Emma, and Sophia to reclaim their lives and embrace a brighter future.

Practical Details

This is a private-pay practice. I don't work with insurance panels — not because I'm indifferent to access, but because managed care changes what therapy can be. The work I do takes time and honesty that insurance-driven models routinely cut short.

If you have out-of-network benefits, I can provide a superbill for potential reimbursement. Many clients with PPO plans recover a meaningful portion of the fee this way.

Session fee is discussed during the consultation. I'll be direct about it.
